    Exploration of Oregon and Washington

Join us for our next 'Exploration Series' at the vineyard! On Saturday, October 26th at 1pm in the cru lounge, we invite you to join our wine educators Leah May and Monika Barman, on a journey exploring two noteworthy U.S. wine regions in the Pacific Norhtwest, Oregon and Washington State.   Discover the wines that have put these regions on the map and explore the unique characteristics that make each region and wine special. Guests will explore the history, terroir, and climate of three iconic regions of the Pacific Northwest and taste the varying stylistic approaches of winemaking each producer has to offer. Did you know that the Willamette Valley is known as the “Pinot Noir Capital” of the U.S. and is renowned for producing some of the most elegant and complex Pinots in the world! Guests will have the opportunity to sample two styles of Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, one produced in the sparkling method, and one in the still method. The Columbia Valley of Washington experiences more than 300 days of sunshine each year, creating the perfect balance for growing bold, full-bodied wines. In this region, you’ll discover powerhouse red grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.  We will dive into the Walla Walla Valley, one of Washington’s most sacred wine areas, known for its world-class Syrah and a wine-growing history that dates back to the 1850s.We are excited to share with you a Syrah coming from a cult producer, Cayuse, a powerhouse producer in the Walla Walla region. Cayuse founder Christophe Baron, a France native, has helped bring global attention to the Walla Walla appellation and crafts year after year one of the most sought out Syrah's across the globe. Baron’s path toward Cayuse began while studying in Burgundy, where he gained a clear understanding of the concept of terroir. We were thrilled to secure a bottle of Cayuse from Giacomo and look forward to sharing with you all the 2021 vintage.

    Blends: Exploring Catoctin's Three Tiers

Our team at Catoctin Breeze would like to invite you to an exclusive horizontal tasting at the vineyard. What is a horizontal tasting?A horizontal tasting explores different wines from the same vintage. In addition, the wines included usually all have something more in common.  We invite you to join us and explore how each of the three 2022 blends, Concerto, Nocturne, and Adagio differ in their own ways, each reflecting an intentional varietal composition, structural consideration, and ageability. To summarize: Concerto is our top blend. Nocturne is our second blend. Adagio is our third. How do they differ? Exploring them side by side is the best way to understand the intention behind each wine, and to further familiarize yourself with our blend program in general. The event will be hosted by our wine educators, Leah and Monika; and they are excited to discuss in depth the 2022 growing season, the winemaking techniques, and overall stylistic approaches and philosophy for the blend program at Catoctin Breeze. This event will take place Saturday, September 28 at 12:00pm in the cru lounge. We will be limiting this event to 20 people. Each member is limited to two tickets.Ticket prices are $38 and include a 2.5 ounce pour of each of the three blends. Members will have the opportunity to purchase these blends prior to their official release in the winter.  You may purchase tickets by clicking the button below. We look forward to sharing with you all these blends.
