About The Ramblas The arrival of a ring road around Eeklo and the possibility of turning the thoroughfare into a traffic-free and more pleasant zone is music to our ears. Strolling on the announced city promenade, doing your shopping in an innovative city center and enjoying a cup of delicious coffee on a terrace. That can only make you happy. That's why we think "The Ramblas" is an appropriate name for our restaurant. The relaxed atmosphere and the vacation feeling, the great mishmash of cultures and people, the kiosks, stalls, flower stalls, easels, the statues and buskers, terraces, restaurants, stores and tourists. Eeklo has many assets but needs an extra boost and we would like to do our part. Our starting point is the bistro & beer combined with Flemish cuisine and world food, a mix concept that is enjoyed by young and old alike with a nice selection of tasty beers. We want to put the emphasis on experience and innovation. A balanced, well thought-out offer combined with weekly suggestions, with input from our entire team. In this way they stay sharp and contribute to the success of their job environment. Ramblas is concerned about sustainability, about the world we live in now and the world we will leave to the next generation, the exploitation of local farmers and workers in third world countries, the failure to achieve the Kyoto targets. For coffee, we are launching a new concept for Eeklo: Chaqua. Coffee that feels good tastes better. That is why we choose products of sustainable origin. This coffee always meets strict conditions, based on three pillars: protection of the environment, strict respect for human and labor rights and providing assistance to farmers in setting up sustainable agriculture management systems. We get our tea assortment around the corner from the world store. De Ramblas wants to do its part by focusing on waste management, by consciously choosing food that is grown with respect for fauna and flora or by working with local producers and a fair trade coffee story. For example, we certainly want to pay attention to the content per portion of food sold and avoid waste. For our ice cream assortment we work together with regional producer de Bushoeve from Eeklo.
