Over 60 years ago the Gainey Family acquired 1,800 acres of undeveloped land in the Santa Ynez Valley. Here, on what we call the Home Ranch, they ran cattle and horses while growing 600 acres of fruit, vegetables, flowers and hay. In 1984, after years of travel and appreciation of European wines, the family saw a similar potential in Santa Barbara County as a world-class growing region. 1891 Barn Private Tour and Tasting
Dating back to 1891, the historic barn at Gainey Estate Vineyards is a very special part of our 600 acre property and reflects the timelessness of old California. Led by one of our wine experts, guests will be driven through the vineyards to a private seated tasting where we will have a detailed and informative selection of curated wines from both the Gainey Estate Vineyards in Santa Ynez and our Evan’s Ranch Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills. This experience will be complimented by a selection of California cheese and charcuterie with all the accoutrements featuring local dairies and purveyors. Please allow 90 - 120 minutes for this experience.

Evan’s Ranch Vineyard Private Tour and Tasting
Led by one of our Wine Experts, join us for a private immersive tour of Evan’s Ranch, our Estate vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills, followed by a detailed and informative tasting of our current wines from Evan’s Ranch Vineyard. We will walk through specific blocks tasting wines grown from those same exact blocks. Subjects will be wide-ranging covering all aspects of viticulture, winemaking, terroir and all things vinous. This experience will be complimented by a curated selection of California Cheese and Charcuterie with all the accoutrements featuring local dairies and purveyors. Please allow 75-90 minutes for this experience.

Join our Estate Director, Stephen Janes, in our Private Cellar for a detailed tasting focusing on the concept of terroir, a French term used to describe the location and environmental influences affecting grape and wine quality. Using several different of our estate selections, we will taste through various lots highlighting examples of wines grown in different vineyards and regions in Santa Barbara County. We will discuss why and what the influences are affecting each wine’s aroma, taste, complexity and quality with conversations wide-ranging, educational and covering all things vinous.
