Restaurant da Costa is named after its chef and owner: David da Costa. This Dutchman with Indonesian roots began cooking by necessity at the age of eighteen. After living with his grandparents all his life, David suddenly found himself alone. To support himself, he had to be creative. Since he did not earn enough with his kickboxing career and you always get "staff food" in the catering industry, David started working as a kitchen assistant. This is how he gradually discovered his passion. When he was 22, he stopped studying engineering and invested all his savings in a cookery course at Spermalie in Bruges. Driven by a hunger for more, David went to work at De Lindehof** (Nuenen), Pure-C**(Cadzand) and VANE (Eindhoven). In 2019 it was time for the next step, setting his own signature in Antwerp. In restaurant da Costa there are no rules and certainly no pigeonholes. Come along to get to know this kitchen rebel yourself. MEET THE CHEF DAVID DA COSTA I am David da Costa chef and owner of restaurant da Costa in Antwerp. Since September 2019 I operate 24 seat restaurant together with my wife. I started as an assistant in the kitchen when I was still in high school. But I never left it. My learning schools are the Lindehof**(Nuenen), Pure-C**(Cadzand), Vane Restaurant (Eindhoven). My cooking style is very diverse, I can't really put a sticker on it. I just cook what I like. Sometimes my menu is more Asian tinted other times Mediterranean or even a combination of flavors. In my restaurant I want to take people along in my search for flavors and new combinations. you taste everything I experience in my life. I grew up with the Indonesian kitchen and these flavors can always be found in my menu. In addition, my wife is Moroccan and there are regular flavors from her kitchen in my menus. I myself like comfort food a lot. Like stews, casseroles and the like. I often dare to serve this as a side-dish.
