Welcome to Pete’s Tavern, New York City’s oldest continuously operating restaurant and bar, located at the corner of 18th Street and Irving Place in the Gramercy Park Historic District. Pete’s Tavern was famous for serving as the preferred watering hole for the Tammany Hall political machine and, during Prohibition, it continued operation disguised as a flower shop. The forty-foot rosewood bar, decorated back bar, tin ceiling and tile floor are all original fixtures. The walls are adorned with pictures of notable patrons and great photos of Pete’s and the local neighborhood through the years. The upstairs party room, with its beautiful hardwood floors, original brick walls and bar, is available throughout the year for gatherings of all types and sizes. Available plans can be viewed on our website. We also offer four distinct outdoor dining areas. When you visit Pete’s, please take a moment to walk around, enjoy the pictures, and allow the history of this New York landmark to seep in.
