La Piadina Cucina Italiana•Vila Olímpia

La Piadina is a favorite of the Italian colony in São Paulo. A restaurant in the Vila Olímpia region, it features on its menu typical dishes from different regions of Italy, prepared in the same way as native Chefs. After a few seasons in Italy, the partners of La Piadina Cucina Italiana (Gustavo Veiga and Juliana Passaro) decided to open a typical Italian restaurant that completes 11 years of operation in São Paulo and has a menu full of flavors from different regions of Italy. The first choice for the menu fell on a dish little known to Brazilians, Piadina. Typical dish from the Emilia Romagna region, Piadina is a typical “bread” made from type 00 Italian flour, extra virgin olive oil and baked in soapstone, which can be tasted with different types of fillings, sweet or savory, hot or cold. The restaurant is the first house to serve Piadina in Brazil, which is why it was baptized precisely with the name La Piadina, currently several other locations in São Paulo and in the rest of Brazil also work with the dish in view of its versatility and different types of flavor. In addition to Piadina, the restaurant regularly offers options of artisan gnocchi, chosen by critics as one of the best in São Paulo. Since the opening, every 29th of the month, there has been the Gnocchi da Fortuna Festival, where mini portions are served with various types of sauces that can be tasted at will with a fixed price. The entire restaurant menu can be found at www.lapiadina.com.br The partner Gustavo Veiga, responsible for the kitchen at La Piadina, conducted some kitchens in various parts of Italy and brought the real local cuisine in his luggage. In addition, the restaurant received the 1st place award at Concorso dei Cuochi, in the Classical Cuisine category, which was promoted by FIC (Italian Federation of Chefs de Cuisine), where the dish presented was Gnocchi al sugo. And not only does loyalty to the original recipes affect customer satisfaction, since all the products offered at home and used in the preparation of the dishes are imported with the aim of reproducing the flavor found on the tables of the “old boot”. The combination of these elements resulted in the restaurant receiving in 2011 and 2012 the important Ospitalità Italiana award provided by the Government of Italy and making La Piadina the favorite restaurant of the local Italian colony.
