Join us for an evening steeped in the atmosphere of a bygone era, where dim lighting, haunting melodies, and period-inspired cocktails set the stage for a thrilling adventure into Detroit's clandestine past.Our event will guide you through a curated selection of cocktails that once flowed through the hidden speakeasies of the Prohibition era, with each drink evoking the thrill of a city under the cloak of secrecy. As you sip these historical concoctions, you'll uncover chilling tales of Detroit’s role in the Prohibition drama and the legacy of its mysterious underground bars.Dress in your best 1920s garb or come as a specter of the past—while themed attire is encouraged, it is not required. Whether you’re a history aficionado or simply enjoy a perfectly crafted cocktail with a side of spine-tingling intrigue, our Prohibition Experience promises an evening of nostalgia, discovery, and a touch of the supernatural.Please note that this event will be communally seated in The Upright. Ticket price includes tasting flight of Prohibition-inspired cocktails, and light snacks provided by Chef Jared Gadbaw. The Culinary Collective: Chef Anita Lo
The Culinary Collective Series is back in 2024 with some exciting chefs coming to cook with us! Our third and final chef for 2024 is Chef Anita Lo.Anita Lo is a French trained chef and cookbook author (Cooking Without Borders and SoLo, a Modern Cookbook for a Party of One which won Eater’s Cookbook of the Year and was nominated for an IACP award) based in New York City. She is best known for her work at Annisa, a contemporary American fine dining restaurant in the West Village which she owned and operated for 17 years and which received a three star rating from the New York Times and a Michelin star among other accolades. She was the first female chef to collaborate for a state dinner at the white house under the Obama Administration. She has appeared on numerous television shows and films including Top Chef Masters, Iron Chef America and The Heat. She is currently working with the Tour De Forks, hosting culinary tours around the planet.
