Nam Thai - Restaurante Tailandês was born in 1998 with the aim of filling a gap in the gastronomy of Rio de Janeiro, which did not have any establishment of its kind. After the initial 3 years in Itaipava, he moved to the charming neighborhood of Leblon, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, still there today. Specializing in Thai and Southeast Asian cuisine, he is strongly influenced by the work produced on the international Blue Elephant network, where his chef David Zisman did his specialization. In 2004, the Nam Thai restaurant was awarded by the government of Thailand for offering authentic and genuine cuisine, having received, on this occasion, the “Thai Brand” quality seal, granted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade. In 2006, he was awarded the “Thai Select” award, granted by the Export Promotion Department of the Ministry of Foreign Trade to the 250 best Thai restaurants among the more than 30 thousand in the world. He also received the certificate “Pride of Thailand”, from the Thai Food Institute, in 2009, the year in which he was doubly elected as the best Asian restaurant in Rio de Janeiro by Época magazine, both by the vote of the jurors and by popular vote. Always looking for news and attractions for his customers, chef David Zisman travels regularly to Southeast Asia, bringing news from Thailand and countries like Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia to the Nam Thai menu.
