Gundlach Bundschu (Gun-Lock-Bun-Shoe) is a family-owned winery and organic vineyard producing Bordeaux-style wines since 1858. Our 165-year-old property is located at the crossroads of the Sonoma Valley, Carneros and Napa Valley appellations, just minutes from the Sonoma square. We focus on making small lots of organically farmed wines from this distinctive and historic property. We invite you to visit for a wine tasting, vineyard and cave tour or event to experience our laid-back Sonoma vibe.

    If you’re looking for a classic Sonoma wine tasting with a twist, the Rhinefarm Tasting is for you. Kick back on our winery courtyard, Donkey Bar, (or indoors in our historic barrel room, weather dependent) surrounded by our organic vineyards and wine caves as our engaging and experienced hosts guide you through a memorable flight of five wines with optional seasonal snack add ons. Choose between our seasonal Rhinefarm Estate flight of five wines or our Heritage flight of seven wines, including our Vintage Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. $50 pp. 90 minute experience.Limited to party sizes of eight or less.     Winter Cave & Vineyard Tour

    Picture this: you are exploring the underground world of Gundlach Bundschu in our wine caves and organic vineyards. First, your lovely wine educator will guide you through a tasting of our organically grown estate wines while you explore every crevice of our wine cave and hear legendary stories of the Bundschu family’s deep roots in California winemaking history. Then, weather permitting, your walk will venture outside the back cave doors to learn more about our organically farmed vineyard, sheep, old vines, and sustainability practices. The tour culminates in a tasting of our Vintage Reserve Cabernet in our majestic cave dining room. Epic, right? Yeah, we think so, too. Experience is 90 minutes. Please no pets or children under 13 on tour

    The Sonoma Original Bar Tasting

    Join us in our historic winery tasting room for The Sonoma Original Bar Tasting and discover what wine tasting was like in Sonoma when we first opened our tasting room nearly 50 years ago. In this standing bar experience, you’ll get an introduction to our regenerative organic wines as your host guides you through a tasting of three Rhinefarm favorites. Reservations can be made in advance and are available for walk-ins on a first come, first served basis for parties up to six. Please allow 45 minutes for your tasting and note this is a standing tasting, just like it used to be. For our full seated tasting experience, please select the Rhinefarm tasting. $25/person

    Après Ski Party

    Get ready to relive the glory days of après-ski with the Bundschus! Our third annual Bacchus Club Après Ski Party is taking over the barrel room and caves on Saturday, December 14th, from 5-8 pm. Expect an evening filled with wine, holiday cheer, dancing, a costume contest, and a chance of snow flurries. Your ticket includes tasting pours of our Estate, Heritage, and Reserve wines alongside seasonal snacks. Additional food available for purchase. After you explore the caves and check off your holiday shopping list, head to the barrel room where the fun continues with games, dancing, and retro beats courtesy of our resident DJ. We’re bringing back the retro ski theme, so dust off those vintage snow suits! If last year was anything to go by, we’re in for another night of radical, retro revelry.$45/person 21+ club members only

    Pinz Excursion

    Climb aboard our Pinzgauer (“pinz-gower”), a Swiss Army transport vehicle, for an off-roading experience across Rhinefarm. Cruise through our regenerative organic vineyards with a glass of wine in hand as your guide takes you on a journey of our history as the oldest family-owned winery in California and what makes our wines so unique. You’ll stop at several spots in the vineyard including an enclave amongst the vines to taste two wines alongside cheese and charcuterie. Back in the tasting room, your experience culminates with a splash of our icon Cabernet, Vintage Reserve. so if your friends back home want to know, well, they’re just going to have to see for themselves.Due to the nature of this experience, no children under 13 or pets are allowed. We recommend arriving fifteen minutes early to ensure you receive the full experience.     Private Group Tasting & Tour

    This private and explorative wine tasting is available for groups of nine or larger, and takes place on the “back side” of the property that you won’t see very often. Our 320-acre estate was dubbed “Rhinefarm” in 1858 by our founder, Jacob Gundlach, after his homeland in Germany. Flanked by historic stone buildings and barns, this intimate and idyllic location is sure to be the highlight of your day. Start off with a welcome splash and a mini tour of our property & vineyard, before ending in our historic Bungalow. Kick back as your experienced host guides your group through a memorable flight of 6 of our wines. Want to customize your special occasion? Select a cheese & charcuterie add-on ($15 per person, family style nibbles), ice cream sweet treats or a glasses of bubbles to make your day extra special.
