Kalye, meaning “street” in Tagalog, is an intimate fast-casual restaurant on New York City’s colorful Lower East Side with a mission to mainstream Filipino food and culture. Born from a desire to celebrate his heritage, Rob Mallari-D’Auria opened Kalye a few short years after he moved to Manhattan from his home country. Rob, alongside his partner Henry, built the restaurant with a vision of it being a culinary oasis, and a way to introduce the city's residents and visitors to the vibrant flavors of the Philippines. Kalye quickly developed a cult-like following for their eye-catching Pork Ube Sliders found in the restaurant and at their Smorgasburg summer pop-up, and keeps guests coming back with a menu full of Rob’s family recipes. Kalye also doubles as an art gallery, showcasing works from independent Filipino artists. Kalye is a celebration of Filipino food, culture, and community.
