New Yorker Jacob Hadjigeorgis, the son of a restaurateur and a guy from Queens (in his words, the “melting pot” of great cuisines from around the globe), was always passionate about food and design. When he spent a semester abroad in the Czech Republic, he fell in love with art, architecture, and artisanal beer. And as a student and fencing competitor, he traveled widely throughout the United States, becoming fascinated with regional specialties and local spices and ingredients. In 2008, Jacob opened Mmmac & Cheese, which soon became a go-to destination for comfort food in Boston’s Quincy Market. Building on his success, he set his sights back on the Big Apple and in December 2011 he debuted Jacob’s Pickles in his hometown. Southern-inspired comfort food, house-made pickles, and beer are the focus of his Upper West Side restaurant.
