Breymer "When I Get Through" Album Release

Breymer will celebrate the release of their third record, "When I Get Through," with support TBD. NOTE: These are seated tickets for Breymer’s album release show. Berlin does not take reservations, so after purchasing tickets, please plan on arriving early if you are looking for a table or booth. After seated tickets have sold out, we will open sales for standing-room tickets.Breymer (FKA Sarah Walk) is an indie artist who is from Minneapolis and based in Los Angeles. On Oct. 18th, they will release "When I Get Through" with One Little Independent Records. The album is a strikingly honest exploration of their relationship with gender and identity; it tracks Walk’s experience of top surgery, from making the decision to the process itself.Breymer utilizes a rich array of instrumentation elevated by a standout vocal performance, raw lyricism, and textured production by Tyler Chester (Margaret Glaspy). Exquisite, layered vocal harmonies across the record enforce its reflective themes, and at times the conversation seems to be internal, with much of the record posing questions such as “Am I better now,” “Am I on the wrong path,” and “Who am I?”. "When I Get Through" examines a journey of self-discovery, it’s introspective and transformative, and it’s a testament to the strength of its lead; someone willing not just to make the choice, but to document the emotional experience in its entirety.Revelatory and radically insightful, "When I Get Through" bares all as Breymer takes listeners through every stage of their pursuit for self-acceptance. Unlike anything that has come before it, Walk’s ideas surrounding their own physical and mental progress are candid, authentic and ultimately breathtaking. Amidst a body of deftly constructed songcraft and extraordinary poeticism, Breymer has penned a companion piece for anyone in search for their true selves.

He holds a graduate degree in piano performance from the UMKC Conservatory and an undergraduate degree in piano performance and piano pedagogy from Hastings College.Following the global success of recent catalogue works "NOME" and "Illume," Jacob Pavek released his senior effort, "NINA." "NINA" is the cumulation of four years of life's harmony and strife, captured on piano at Midwestern Records in Pavek’s hometown of Saint Paul, MN. Inspired by the ever-changing seasons of life, the intimate dampened piano is often accompanied by expressive strings and ethereal voices to create a unique world to live in, if only for a mere 29 minutes.

He released albums on the London-based record label Kit Records (Plage Arrière), the mancunian record label Sferic (Hotel Nota), and Jan Jelinek’s own imprint Faitiche (Living Room), transforming the layering of different times into a free-flowing pulse that sounds both nostalgic and mysteriously ahistorical. Her unique strand of experimental piano compositions, which conjure hypnotizing textures and dramatic compositional arcs, have been included on year-end lists across classical, avant-garde, and metal genres. An accomplished and highly sought-after composer, Moran has collaborated with artists the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never as part of his touring ensemble for 2018 album Age Of, as well as singer and composer FKA Twigs' live ensemble. Moran has also composed for classical musician Margaret Leng Tan and worked with other visionary contemporaries like Kelsey Lu and Yves Tumor. As a solo artist, Moran's critically acclaimed albums, Bloodroot and Ultraviolet, have explored a variety of extended piano techniques like John Cage-inspired prepared piano and exercises in improvisation. Moran's most recent album Moves in the Field moves away from the prepared piano techniques which defined earlier works like 2017’s Bloodroot and instead exists in a sphere somewhat similar to her 2018 Warp debut Ultraviolet (in which the piano was used in a more experimental capacity), this time placing her instrument in a dimension more isolated and inward. “Moves in the Field shows us that technique doesn’t need to be showy or daring—without sacrificing rigor or heft, it can also be tender.” –Pitchfork

You could walk into a packed jazz haunt and bear witness to him behind the piano with energy practically surging from his fingers through the room. You might scroll up on social media and catch him alternating from drums to bass to guitar at the speed of a jump cut. You may also step onto festival grounds and see him on stage either solo or accompanying another likeminded visionary, jamming like his life depends on it. No matter where, the New York-born and Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer electrifies any lane. By doing so, he also transcends perceived boundaries between genres and styles, redefining the music to mirror his own fluid creative inclinations and delivering a sound that’s solely his alone. He's honed that voice since his childhood in New York where he participated in his first late-night downtown jam session at barely eleven-years-old. Sharpening his skills with thousands of hours and hundreds of gigs, he established himself as a highly sought-after collaborator—whether on piano, drums, synths, or bass. You could hear him loud and clear on recordings by the likes of Carmen Lundy, Lackecia Benjamin, Brasstracks, Kassa Overall, Baby Rose, Joe Farnsworth, Cautious Clay, Ian Isiah, and Braxton Cook. Moreover, he has shined on stage with the late Roy Hargrove, Remi Wolf, Dev Hynes, Lauren Spencer-Smith, Macy Gray, Kurt Elling, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, Morgan James, and Cautious Clay, to name a few. He even lent his talents to Meshell Ndegeocello’s The Omnichord Real Book—which garnered the first-ever GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Alternative Jazz Album.”
