Legend has it that in 1911, the Horse Inn was purchased as a hayloft and carriage house for horses and equipment. In the early 1920’s the hay was pitched and the space became a speakeasy for friends and neighbors to illegally drink, hang and play shuffleboard. As we fast forward to the present day the original foundation and historic ambiance has been carried through to the present day owners Matt and Starla Russell, whom have enhanced the unique charm and added a place to dine in focusing on using the most fresh and local ingredients for dishes, along side of craft cocktails that are also meticulously crafted with care and the same focus of fresh and local components, rifting twists and new innovations of prohibition classics. It is not only our passion but mission to uphold the traditions of the past and preserve the original charm that has made Horse Inn a Lancaster favorite for many years to come.
